Firm

UIC (Urban Improvement Company) is an integrated practice with expertise in property development, general contracting, architecture, urban design and custom fabrication. Founded in 2005 with a focus on urban environments and green building by partners Brent Crittenden and Sarah Gibson, UIC has quickly become an active part of the redevelopment of the City of St. Louis. The partnership possesses a unified commitment to operating with the highest integrity and a belief in being fully committed to our client’s goals and aspiration.

Our partnership began with the purchase of a mixed-use building on the Cherokee Antique Row in St. Louis, which we developed using a design/build project delivery method. The building now houses a ground floor art gallery and educational center and three two-story residential condominiums.

Drawing on the methods initiated in this project, and the dozens of other projects we have participated in since, UIC has developed an advanced product delivery method at an excellent value. This holistic approach and our diverse backgrounds allow us to go beyond the traditional roles of consultant and builder to become a long-term integral part of our client’s development and facilitates ambitions.
