Cherokee Terrace

Commercial, Residential

Our first project, Cherokee Terrace, a mixed use historic building in the Benton Park neighborhood of St. Louis, was acquired by UIC in December of 2005. At the time the building had been out of use for several years and was in a severe state of deterioration and in danger of being demolished. UIC has restored the exterior of the building, including foundation and brickwork repairs, new windows and wooden storefronts, all completed using national guidelines for historic restoration. In the spring of 2007 the building was placed back in service, with a ground floor art gallery for local artist and gallery owner Philip Hitchcock and three owner-occupied residential units above.
